Practical Skills for Positive Communication
 
This course provides practical skills training to ensure that learning gained can be transferred into everyday life:
  • Increased self confidence
  • An ability to clearly express needs and desires in a manner that ensures a positive outcome
  • An ability to recognise and deal with feelings and emotions that can distort communication
  • An introduction to a language that will ensure clarity of expression

     Format

This is a four module course that covers all aspects of assertive language and behaviour.

Subjects covered include: Assertion - good news or bad news; Identifying situations where it is difficult to be assertive; Saying NO!; The effect of feelings and emotions; The difference between assertion and aggression; Formula for positive communication; Giving feedback rather than criticism.

Pathways and Options

The four modules of this course are sequential and best results are gained by attending the 'highly interactive' classes in the set order. When the course has been interrupted, it is advised to continue the course in the next sequence of four modules.

Duration

This comprehensive course will take place over a period of four weeks. Participation for two scheduled hours per week is recommended. Preparation and home work (practicing principles) is included in the four weeks schedule.

Course Learning Objectives

By the end of the course:
Participants will be able to communicate more clearly and with greater effectiveness.
Particicpants will have skills that will increase levels of personal confidence.

Qualification/Award

On completion of the four modules a certificate of attendance will be issued by Mind Gliding.

If all the exercises and course material has been completed in a satisfactory manner a certificate of 'Competence in practical skills for positive communication' will be issued.
